The Art Of Vending
HUDDERSFIELD, England - When the
Hudderstield Art Gallery
opened its doors last year, it boasted a new look and a unique vender. Redesigned by The Culture Company, the gallery's new image was designed to reflect the growing commitment to contemporary art and younger-than-average visitor profile, a third of which is estimated to be between 15 and 24 years old.
A key element of the gallery's enhanced look is the newly opened "Art Lounge" that gallery management says: "Is the home to Yorkshire's first art vending machine."
According to the gallery's management, patrons can purchase small pieces of art for £2 while they relax in retro-influenced surroundings, recline on leather sofas and contemplate the works on show in comfort. The Lounge also houses a coffee vending machine.
